Fabrication capabilities
Fabrication & manufacturing
Low-volume fabrication and small-batch manufacturing for commercial, residential, and design-led projects. Work ranges from one-off components through to coordinated sets or collections, produced with careful quality control and delivered through trusted local supply chains.
Welding & assembly
In-house MIG and TIG welding across a range of materials. Assembly is approached as a considered part of the process, ensuring components come together accurately, efficiently, and as intended within the broader scope of each project.
Materials
SteelScale predominantly works with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and brass. Material selection is a critical part of each project, and informed advice is provided early to ensure the chosen material suits the application, environment, finish, and intended use.
Forming, cutting & external processes
SteelScale coordinates a network of trusted specialist suppliers to deliver processes that sit outside in-house fabrication. This may include laser cutting and folding, bending and rolling, tube processing, and other specialist operations required to achieve a project’s intent. We manage file preparation, approvals, and coordination through to delivery or collection.
Project support & Delivery
Design development & prototyping
Early-stage support to test ideas, resolve feasibility, and refine designs before production. This work focuses on considered, intelligent development — taking all aspects of the brief into account and identifying potential production issues early, before they become problems on site or in fabrication.
Finishes
SteelScale works across a wide range of metal finishes and finishing processes, selected to suit the material, context, and intended use of each project. Finishes may include powder coating, polishing, patina treatments, clear coatings, galvanising, and plating, among others.
Each finish has specific constraints and lead times. Early discussion is strongly recommended. Samples and approvals are covered in .
Project coordination & installation
For projects where steel is a major or defining component, SteelScale can coordinate the fabrication scope from research and development through to production, logistics, installation, and handover — working closely with clients and other trades to ensure clarity and continuity throughout.
Logistics & delivery
SteelScale predominantly services Melbourne and metropolitan projects, with delivery and coordination extending across regional Victoria and interstate where required. Projects beyond Melbourne are welcome and benefit from early discussion to ensure logistics, timing, and handling are planned appropriately.
Not every project fits neatly into a category.
If you’re unsure how a project might best be approached, . We’re happy to help clarify the right path forward.
